All of our current Cardillo Weight Belts are made from authentic garment leather. Occasionally, we get asked why we discontinued our suede line, so here are the pros and cons of suede and garment leather for weightlifting belts:

SUEDE

Pros:

  • Has a nice finish
  • Large color selection
  • Is softer than garment leather

Cons:

  • The color fades and bleeds
  • Gets a rough, grungy, beat-up texture over time
  • Susceptible to scratches and stains
  • Susceptible to water damage, leading to shrinkage and deformation
  • Less durable than garment leather
  • Difficult to clean and maintain

GARMENT LEATHER

Pros:

  • Will always look clean and sleek over time
  • No fading or bleeding and is scratch resistant
  • Breathable and offers maximum comfort through sweat
  • Withstands external damages through all elements
  • Molds to your body over time for comfort

Cons:

  • Minimal color selection

Despite decades of testing, we believe suede belts are inferior to garment leather weight belts. We aim to provide only the best quality products to you, and suede belts do not fit our standards.
